Niko Resources Ltd. (Niko) is committed to ensuring the safety and health of our staff and contractors, regulatory compliance, and demonstrating a high level of social and environmental responsibility in all it's activities.
Niko has been progressively implementing its Safety, Health, Environmental and Social Program (SHESP) over the past six years. Coincident with this has been the education of its core field personnel and staffing of key positions to ensure effective implementation of relevant corporate policies and procedures. The SHESP system is fully implemented in India and Bangladesh. All Indian production facilities are ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 certified. Initial ISO certification was in 2007 and upgraded in 2008 to OHSAS 18001 - 2007.
Niko's areas of activity expanded significantly in 2008. In addition to its ongoing operations in India and Bangladesh the company now undertaking preliminary exploration activities in Pakistan, Iraq, Madagascar and Indonesia.
This report summarizes SHESP performance in the fourth quarter of 2008.

SHEMS POLICY UPDATE
Niko issued a new Safety, Health, Environment and Social Programs Policy and Vision Statement in August 2007. The new SHESP policy and vision statement does not represent a fundamental change in intent or direction of Niko. The new statement more clearly expresses commitments and responsibilities in regard to occupational safety, health, environment and social performance.
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIAL PROGRAM STAFFING - 2008
By the end of the fourth quarter 2008, Niko employed a total of 26 HSE employees. HSE responsibilities in Pakistan, Iraq, Madagascar and Indonesia are currently being overseen by Nikoís Corporate Manager SHESP until activity levels warrant permanent staffing.

No lost time incidents or fatalities were reported across Nikoís operations in 2008. No fatalities have occurred during the past 12 years of Nikoís operations.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AND SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES
INDIA
- Blood donation programme organised at Hazira plant with the help of Surat Raktadan Kendra & Research Centre. 111 persons donated Blood on 1st Oct 2008
- Pulse Polio Program was conducted at Hazira facility and 108 childrenís were vaccinated (10th Feb 2008)
- World Environment Day/Week was celebrated from 30th May to 05th June 2008.
- Niko's HSE Manager presented a lecture on environmental conservation June 2, 2008 (87 students attended).
- Niko supported a debate competition at the Hazira Secondary School June 4, 2008 (22 participants in the debate and 113 in attendance).
- Hazira Sea Beach clean-up done by NIKO Employees, Contractor employees, Hazira Secondary School students and villagers on 4th June (> 200 participants).

Niko organized Environmental Awareness Campaign for local school children, 2008.

- Company has sponsored a part time doctor and a part time nurse for Donbosco School, Baroda which runs a charitable trust for the destitute children. Also two First Aid Medical Kits have been donated for the School.
- Planting of 250 ha tidal habitat with mangrove seedlings near Dandi Village, Hazira.
- Advanced first aid training given to four Village School Teachers.
- Provided two emergency resource mobilizations. Emergency response team, medical team, ambulance dispatch on request for community calls on two occasions.

- Ongoing program to reduce volume of plastic water bottles in use.

CALGARY
- On-going use of recycled paper products and promotion of double-sided copying. Annual report to be produced both electronically and on recycled paper in 2009.

EMPLOYMENT BY GENDER
By the end or the fourth quarter 2008 Niko was employing a workforce of approximately 229 people. Percentage female employment currently ranges between 0% and 28 % across its operations and 10% overall.
